Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the respective campus representative on the UCHRI Advisory Committee for advice regarding criteria of assessment.
Program Overview
UCHRI is requesting proposals to use its on-site institutional
resources to serve as a retreat for short intensive residencies to
complete a group collaborative project already well under way and with
a committed outcome in sight.
Residencies may run anywhere from a week to a month, depending on need
and availability. Unlike the fellowships under the Institute's regular
residency program, no course buyouts will be involved; but the grant
will cover reasonable costs of relocation to UCHRI and time in
residence.
Residencies will be available for up to 10 residents at a time in any
discipline or field in the humanities, or in interaction with the
theoretical social sciences, arts, sciences and technology. The
collaborative project should expect a conjoint publication, tool,
exhibition, performance or other concrete product to result.
Priority will be given to proposals that address significant issues and
problems within or across given fields, are innovative in their design,
and promise concrete outcomes beyond the drafting of a statement or
recommendations.
Applications will reviewed by UCHRI's Advisory Committee at its fall
2009 meeting. Decisions are based upon the quality of the project
proposed; the importance of the proposed work in its field, discipline
or intellectual area; the qualifications of the applicant(s) and
participants; and the suitability of the Institute for the proposed
activity.
APPLYING FOR COLLABORATIVE COMPOSITIONS
Applications must be submitted through the online FASTAPPS system
(e-mailed, mailed, or faxed applications will not be accepted).
Applicants must be registered with the online application system. Basic
information as well as uploaded documents such as fellowship
abstract, biographical abstract, fellowship proposal, and abbreviated
curriculum vitae of the applicant are
required.
Applicants are strongly advised to read the complete guidelines before filling out their application.
Note: The guidelines
for the Collaborative Compositions program are similar to those of
the long-standing UCHRI Faculty Residential Fellowship program, with
the exception that no contribution of sabbatical credits is required
nor are any buyouts involved.
